Diverse Caribbean Culture

Besides the picturesque beauty of the Caribbean islands, visitors are drawn to the richness and diversity of its culture.  The culture of the Caribbean countries is shaped by the European colonialists, the African heritage of slaves, and the enduring legacies of the native Indian tribes set against a backdrop of crystal clear waters and perpetual sunshine.  Thus, Europeans mostly look forward to spending a Caribbean holidays!Each island, although, within the same region, has individual cultural characteristics.  Barbados, for one, is called “Little England.” Aruba, was once a Dutch possession, and retains Dutch influence today. The U.S. Virgin Islands, mainly have an American feel with a few lingering elements of Dutch culture.  The most modern island in the Caribbean is Puerto Rico, having Spanish and American influences that are apparent throughout the island.
