Eating Military Style

MRE meals (meals ready to eat) were originally created by our military for our troops in combat. But today, they have become quite popular among campers as well as hikers and hunting enthusiests. Each meal contains a main entree such as pork ribs, chili with beans and even chicken a la king. These mre meals also include a flameless ration heater or “FRH” to heat any meal, anywhere. Some families have made these handy meals part of there survival kit. Usually easy to find, MRE meals can be purchased by the case and cost on average about $7.00 per meal. These meals have a shelf life of three years if kept in favorable temperatures. However, if kept in extreme heat or freezing conditions, the meal may expire sooner and the FRH may not function properly.
