How quickly malaria can kill
No wonder malaria is such a huge cause of death within the developing world when the malaria life cycle can happen so quickly. It only takes a matter of hours following the bite of a mosquito for the malria plasmodium parasite to infiltrate the liver, multiply and then enter the blood stream attacking the red blood cells of the victim which cause the onset of the symptoms of malaria. Within days the more serious symptoms will develop if the disease is untreated before the victim falls into a coma. For people in Africa that live in remote villages with no means of transport it can take days to reach a town and if they are not well enough to make the journey they face little or chance of survival. Even if they do make it to a hospital sometimes the disease can be so developed that it is too late to save them. That is it days from the moment a mosquito has bitten these people the countdown has begun and withing just a few days their time is up.
