Make sure that your numnber plates are legal

The Police have noticed a steady increase in people using illegal number plates on their vehicles, either not conforming to the regulations or using false plates taken from other vehicles. In response to this it was announced on the 30th June 2009 that the on-the-spot fine for having illegal plates has increased from £30 to £60. There is likely to be an increase in Police vigilance with regards to number plates and you can expect a fine if your plate fails to conform to the rules on font, size and colour.

So how can you ensure that your number plates stay within the law? First you should always purchase your plates from a manufacturer who is listed on the DVLA’s Register of Number Plates Suppliers. These companies are certified to produce plates in accordance with the latest regulations.
